How can we stop evergreen trees growing much taller? They are very close to our house. They are about 30 years old and were never trimmed as they grew. I think they are Leylandi. We dont want to chop them down but they are getting out of hand. Can you help.

If the trees are getting too big now, they will definitely be too big in ten years. Leyland cypress is not suitable close to a house, grows too big and sheds a lot of debris, and cuts out light.

You might be better to think about removal … it will cost less now than each passing year as they get bigger.

This tree cannot be satisfactorily kept to a small size.
