Leeks on my allotment have got rust. RHS website says do nothing, other sites say to use dithane 945. What do you recommend?

Leeks often get rust, especially as the weather has been largely dry and in dry raised beds.

If they get it early, the rust can destroy them. Spraying is not very successful.

Later on, it mainly affects the older leaves and these can be stripped away when the leeks are pulled.

The late-develping leaves are usually okay in the cooler autumn weather.
