Weeds in a lawn

Margaret Hogan asked 16 years ago

I applied Evergreen Weed and Feed to the lawn yesterday 8th April. The lawn is one year old, however there are numerous weeds and several bare patches, it is also very damp. Can I sow grass seed to the bare patches now or should I wait and see if the Evergreen improves things?

Feed and weed products are convenient for small lawn areas. The feed portion acts now but the weed portion needs warm weather to kill weeds and you may find a reduced effect in cold weather. Wait and see what happens.

Usually feeding is enough to bring on a patchy new lawn and it thickens up because, though patchy, there are some grass plants present. If there are areas entirely bare, they stir the surface and scatter some lawn seed.
