The hedge in my front garden recently died due to the bad frost and I have recently taken it out. Our bungalow has a blank south-east facing end wall. Any suggestions as to what we could grow there? I'd love some sort of fruit tree. We would have to remove some of the concrete path. The wall is quite exposed.
There's some beautifully scented wild honeysuckle growing in the hedgerow beside our house. I'd love to take a cutting of it to see if it would grow in our own garden and wonder when and how would be the best way to go about it.
Laurel hedge planted 11 months ago. Stem on 1 plant has snapped at base but not detached and plant is lying horizontal but is still healthy. Can this be repaired or replanted or will i have to dig up and replace?
I planted a five year old tree 10years ago to celebrate the birth of my grandson. The garden runs to the sea in Cobh. It was too exposed and did not fare well so I moved it to a sheltered position in the walled garden about 5 years ago but it has not done well. It is very woody, few leaves, no flowers, except for last year when we had 2. I have been advised to treat it with sequestered iron and did so last and this year. I really do not want to lose it for good sentimental reasons.
Can you tell me what this plant is and is it a perennial?
Can I take cuttings from purple beech and if so what way can it be done and will a cutting grow successfully.

Had a Acer Sango-Kaku growing in my garden for 4 years (approx 3 ft high)and it did not survive the winter - or so I thought. Just went out to inspect it again, and to my delight there is a little branch growing just at the base of the main tree trunk. I was planning on replacing it but should I leave it in that position, or should I dig it up and put in it a pot and nurse it back to health?
