Cut back eucalyptus tree

Pauline Nolan asked 14 years ago

I sowed a eucalyptus tree in a border this year. I wondered if i can cut it back to shrub size as someone told me they grow very big and i do not want this to happen as the border is just outside my sitting room window.

Eucalyptus can be grown as a stooled bush, that is, cut back hard to about 30cm tall every year or two or three years.

Eucalyptus easily re-generates despite this hard pruning and it produces a mass of attractive blue-green foliage.
