I have a Phygelius African Queen I believe. Planted in 2002 by now it has invaded the decking, grass and the rest of the bed, neighbour’s garden. Cutting it comes back stronger and spreading more than ever. I need to remove or eradicate it somehow, but there is a lot of it. Really need your advice please.

In some gardens, left to its own devices, phygelius can spread alarmingly but the modern varieties, such as ‘African Queen’ are not generally so rampant. They spread more in dry open soil. If you want to get rid of it, you will find it difficult to access under a deck, but cut all parts you can reach down to 10cm and when there is 15cm of growth this spring, spray a directed spray of glysphosate, such as Roundup, with a small sprayer. And repeat as necessary. Do not get Roundup on other plants.
