Suggestions for native hedge in suburban garden

I would like to plant a hedge in my front garden which will give privacy all year round but also be edible/friendly to wildlife? ( hedge space is 20ft by 3ft)I can plant holly and ivy to keep some winter green as they grow well here. My partner is obsessed with neat hedges and wants box hedging so I would like to have a good alternative
