I have just done a Petunia Flower Ball and it turned out great. Now i am trying a Busy Lissie Flower Ball and it is just not taking off, have you got any suggestions as to what I can do.
I am due our first baby in September and with loads of visitors etc to the house I want to have the garden looking very pretty (and get some of the work out of the way now) - any suggestions for a cottage garden look?
I have had a hosta for years that is usually a fasbulous, full and healthy plant each year. However this year I noticed the leaves were drooping and the edges of the leaves were a yellow colour. Some of the leaves had holes eaten in them. So I spent days & evenings popping out and checking through the plant and I found 1 vine weevil in the plant. I remamber my mother having them in her garden years ago and telling me they had to be stood on to get rid of them. I have since found 2 more vine weevils beside the large pot the hosta is in. What can I do to save the hosta? And is there any other way of getting ris of the vine weevils?
I bought some Dahlia Bulbs for the first time at Bloom and now wonder if it's too late to plant them?!!

I have a natural stone retaining wall and I am thinking of adding some wall flowers or perennials that would droop over the wall and give some added colour. I don't want them to take over as the wall is very nice so I am thinking they would droop over no more than one foot or so. Thank you for your time. We have recently buit a pergola and would like to plant wisteria with intention that it will cover it in time. However we have been told that the planters are too small to have wisteria they measure 36inchs x 14.5 inchs & 18.5inchs deep and built of brick. Would you think they are too small ? The pergola has 6 sets of planters and posts, if we do have the suitable size how many plants will i need to achieve complete coverage. i have sent you a photo. If its a case wisteria would not be suitable what could you recommend insteadCan you suggest any flowers that would work and also that would be perennial? Are there any that would flower for most of the summer?
We have recently laid a patio. Along one side is a fence where we have made room for a flower bed. I would like to plant Phyllostachys Aurea - Golden Bamboo. Can you please advise if this is a hardy bamboo, if roots will travel and how far apart should I plant them?
I bought a small campanula which at the time was full of flowers. I have since repotted and the leaves are doing well but growing slowly, however the flowers are no more and don't look like they are growing new ones any time soon. The plant is in a pot on a north facing balcony and gets plenty of light and a few hours of morning sun. Is there a reason why I do not have flowers anymore?
I have 5 free range hens in a town garden. They tend to eat my flowers as I plant them but I still want them to be kept totally loose. Would there be any way I could still have a colourful garden at ground level? Can you recommend any plant they wouldn't touch?
We have a small garden with a south facing patio. I have been looking for non-trade microdrip irrigation systems without success. Most garden centres store none or a very small selection and most web ordering sites with good selection deliver only to UK addresses. Any suggestion?
Fern Tree. After severe winter only one frond has developed into branch. Is it possible that tree will recover fully. I am feeding it with tomato fertiliser.
i would like to enquire if peonies can be split, and if so, when is the best time to do it?
I sowed foxglove seeds last year. They have just flowered within the last few weeks. However the flower at the top of the plant in photo is very different to the other flowers which are thimble-like. Is this an accident of nature ? is it worth saving the seed ?
