prior to going on holiday 2 weeks ago I noticed the leaves on one of my Laurustinus shrubs had holes and saw a brown caterpillar about 2cm length on the underside of the leaves. Now the complete shrub has been eaten and a second shrub 10 feet away is been attacked. The shrubs are 15 years+ and never suffered any previous disease.
My davidia planted 1988 flowered since 2005. It flowers really well but in last 2/3 yrs some branches at east side struggle to produce leaves early in spring and later die back by several feet. What could cause this and what would cure it.! I am afraid it will all die!
I have just noticed a type of fungus on my maple tree that is planted in a 15 inch pot (measured across the top). there is a little brown scab on the trunk and when you scratch it white sticky fungus appears. The tree is aprox 3 foot 8 inches tall and is 2 years old (purchased at Bloom). I lost a similar tree recently with no noticable disease and would be keen that this one survives. I would appreciate any advice Thanks
I've noticed a couple of the ash trees around my area have only a branch or two which are growing leaves even at this late stage. I'm wondering if there is some disease attacking ash trees as these are not old trees by any means. I have a few ash trees around my site and am afraid that they might be in danger from it.
Shrub in my garden covered in webbing(not spider) and containing thousands of caterpillars eating most of the leaves. Is this a moth and can anything be done?
I'm looking for help on the most natural way to deal with a parasite on the bark of a magnolia stellata. There are spots like warts appearing on the bark. When i remove them there is a white sticky substance around and in between them, a bit like candy floss - white and fluffy/sticky. What do you think this is and how should I deal with it. Many thanks aisling
I have a very mature tree in my back garden which was here when I arrived 2 years ago. it now appears to have white circular fungus-like spots appearing on it's bark. I don't know what species of tree it is, but the bark is usually a lovely smooth chocolate brown colour, and it flowers with yellow buds in spring. Can you help me treat the problem?
