Hi Gerry. I have a Japanese Maple that I planted out last Oct., it was in a tub. It about 5ft. tall and 4ft. wide.
The leaves are out about three weeks now. The problem is that there is now leaf growth on the tips of of quite a few of the branches, it is not dead wood, should I cut back to where there is leaf growth that would be in most cases about 5-6 inches.
Look forward to your opinion.

My Mimosa is aprox 15 feet high and almost straight because I trained it that way. But it is now blocking light to other tree. Without staking it should grow away from this tree and stay lower because it is closer to South sun. Can I cut the Mimosa to aprox 3-4 feet without killing it and would it be likely to sprout lower branches.
Thanks Gerry!
We planted pyracantha as a hedge 18 months ago and it's doing well. When and how would be best to cut it back as it's growing too tall next to our neighbour's wall?
8ft olive tree approx 8 years old. When it rains it seems very weighed down by the water on the leaves and branches sprawl out. Think It should be pruned to lessen the load on the branches. Would appreciate advice on how and when to perform this job.
