I have a problem with my lawn it is very patchy and yellow in most of the lawn i am in a new house and set it early last september and it came on well i cut it about 3 or four times before middle of october but after winter i have not cut it yet and the way it looks it could be May before it is long enough to cut how do i fill in the gaps and why is it gone yellow and how can i bring it back to a nice green?
I just saw the email from garden.ie where it said 10-10-20 did not have enough nitrogen for feeding a lawn after the winter. I put 10-10-20 on my lawn last week, is there any way to boost the nitrogen now or could I put 20-10-20 on now or would I damage the lawn by over feeding.
Do you know if and where mechanised lawn rakes (the ones with flexible steel prongs) are available (my lawn is too big to od it manually)?
Should I spread lawn sand on patches of my garden that can retain rainwater. The garden has been established over the last 5 years.
I have a small side garden that gets very little breeze and as a result water doesn't drain from the grass. I am about to rotovate the grass beginning April and sow new seeds(are there coarse grass seeds?).Can you give me advice about subsoil, and how to get a better soakage system for the grass.
4 years ago i dug up my back garden wich is quite large, & put top soil on it, i left it to my husband to seed it, i went away for 2 weeks when i came home weeds had grown very high..he never seeded it. so i left it like that..i cant bear to look at it anymore, its full of weeds and very patchy. what do i do? do i need to redig it all again? do i use a shovel or is there some kind of machine that can help me with this?
I'd like to use lawn sand in my back garden to treat moss as it was successful in the front but our pet rabbit shares our lawn. Instructions say to keep pets off for 4 hours after watering but I suspect this only applies to pets who don't eat the grass. Is it safe to use for rabbits or is there an alternative?
Is it too early to mow the lawn?
I have a rather big lawn and my kids use some of the lawn/garden to play football, last year i had some very bad patches with bumps and no grass growth.I have now leveled up these areas with clay and top soil.Would spreading lawn seed type 3 be a waste of time during these cold nights?? or could covering the seed with sand help ??
