I have waited 7 years for our garden and we finally have it - or at least the blank canvas. However, we didn't have to wait so long for a stray dog to wander in and my kids to fall in love with it.The dog is in situ and this is my first year to see a little progress from newly laid shrubs and trees. NOW THE DOG IS CHEWING AND EATING THEM. Is there a spray or anything to use as a deterent ? Please help
Hi i think our dwarf plum tree might be diseased..we haven't had any leaves so far this year and the buds all look like there is a swelling just beneath - last week I noticed a kind of sap oozing out of them but this appears to be dried up now but the buds don't seem to be developing at all.. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
Red Robbin is 10ft high and all the leafs have turned a brown colour it looks dead. Is there someway I can treat it or should I cut it down.
I have a griselinia hedge lined avenue which is 30 odd years old it has formed an arch which I would like to maintain. the only problem is it seems to be dying on me. I have tried to cut out as much dead wood as I can. It has new shoots but these quickly loose their leaves and become bare and also brown or black at the tips. What could I do it would be a shame to loose this beautiful feature. Is pruning an option because these are now more trees than shrubs. thanks
could you help me to stop root rot in mature grisallinia from spreading to the rest of the hedge
Hi Gerry, my acer (in large pot) seems dead - no growth obvious this season, and water in saucer under pot never seems to dry up even in dry windy weather. branches look dehydrated - dry and brittle - whats up and can I do anything at this stage?
The flowers seemed to be coming out, but they have all gone brown now and never actually flowered
I have two hydrangea in a shrub bed in the front garden growing side by side with each other now in their second year. Both seem to be growing painstakingly slow (was under the impression they were very hardy and quick to grow) one is doing well in so far that it is healthy looking but the other shrub has holes in a lot of its leaves and isn't as full with leaves as the other, just wondering if you can tell me why there are so many holes on the leaves and what I can do to remedy this. They are hydrangea macrophylla mophead variety. Look forward to hearing from you.
Hi Gerry, I've a beautiful white birch tree that has recently become infested by mini green caterpillars. Can you please advise how I can remove them before my poor tree ends up leafless? Many thanks.
I have a variegated holly with black kind of scum on the leaves. The holly is 4 foot tall doing well but should I be worried?
Attaching photo of diseased leaves on Daphne 'Jacqueline Postill' - quite a small young plant. Please advise treatment.
We have a wintering flowering cherry blossom that has suffered from blossom wilt the last few years, getting progressively worse. Last summer all the only leaves were at the very top of the tree, and there were no flowers this winter. Is it worth cutting back the tree hard to see if it will recover, or is there anything else I should try before cutting it down? It is a beautiful tree and we would be loathe to cut it down.
Our lovely mature variegated Holly (about 25 ft) is shedding leaves in one section. The leaves are blackening at the tip and are falling off promptly afterwards. It is spreading rapidly. I have been collecting the fallen leaves and tried to cut back the affected branches, but i can't control it. We are after the wettest December on record so I fear it my be related? Can you please give me advice as I fear losing this amazing and essential tree!
This Acer has being dying down one side over the past few years. I have cut off the branches as they died. There are now only the leaves shown left & these look fairly healthy. Can you tell me what has happened & if the tree might fully recover?
