Hi Gerry, I have two bay trees in pots in the garden. About 5 ft tall and have them for 4 years. In the last week one of them is completly covered in small black flies (1-2cm long), nothing on the other tree. They seem to be eating the centre / side of some leaves. The other tree has no flies but some leaves are yellowed, curled and stuck together with sort of cobweb in the centre when pulled apart. I'm totally confused between psyllids, suckers etc so not sure if I just spray them or need to remove all damaged leaves and then spray? Many thanks
Hi GerI have a weeping willow (planted in May) which is now full of this unsightly yellow powder and the leaves seem to be drying up and dying. What is it and is the tree any good or will I have to take it up. Will this disease affect the bulbs I have planted around it?Many Thanks

I unfortunately stripped the bark from the base of a very young brich when strimming. The damage is about an inch in length but doesnt go completely around the tree. What can I do to save the tree or is it a lost cause.
Hi GerryMy rhododendron has some green fungal disease on the older leaves. It look like thin film of green algae - like a green powdery midlew. What is it and how could I use to eradicate this? Thanks
Our tree which is well established has turned brown and appears to be dying from bottom to top ie. turning brown with a sticky syubstance oozing through the bark. A clematis that we had planted this spring to grow up it also seems to be dying ie leaves growing then dying back.I think it might be a fungus. Is this probably correct? If so, can it be treated or should I cut it down and remove it?
what could be causing my new clematis to wilt? would the recent wind and rain be anything to do with it? where my patio is situated is fairly open to the elements and i dont seem to have as much luck with my gardening since i moved here. I have planted a lot of flowering plants before in other abodes, but by times i really loose heart with the results of my efforts here.
I have just noticed that a young hawthorn Paul Scarlett has a portion of bark missing from the bottom of the trunk. It measures about 6 inches long by about 1 inch wide. What animal could have done this can the tree survive? Is there anything i should do now? Regards ,Bobbi
I have a Bay Tree in a large container. It has been doing well until the last month. It has now got little brown scaly lumps under the leaves and a lot of the inner leaves near the trunk have turned yellow. Do you know what is causing this?
My beech tree, twenty five feet tall, planted here for six years, has developed yellow leaves and the leaf edges are brown and curling.
I have a bay tree in a pot, the leaves have turned almost dirty looking & I've been told it has black rot?? Is there any cure to bring its leaves back to full colour?
Hi Gerry, I have three salix on my patio along with other container plants such as Acers and Phormiums. There is orange rust on one of the salix trees, do I need to treat this or dispose of it?
I have a lilac tree about 10 yrs old. It started to lean over but was stopped falling by a coal bunker. The bark at the bottom of the trunk has lifted all the way around. We supported it up again and watered well - but the leaves have all withered and it looks dead. This happened just after it was in flower.
My neighbour's large sycamore tree reaches over into my garden, where I am growing various vegetables for consumption. It is infested with Sycamore aphids, and my plants are being covered with the sticky honeydew. It is not the end of the world, I suppose, but is there anything that can be done to lessen the problem?
