where can I obtain cocoa shell mulch in bulk at a reasonable price. I need to cover a large area approx 100 sq metres.
We have an escallonia hedge with the kerbing varing from one foot to three foot out from the hedge, the area has a weed barrier and stones and is unplanted. Frond like weeds appear between the hedge and the kerbing which are a melt to pick. I was wondering if I could spray roundup on this area and if so how close can I spray to the hedge?
My neighbours on both sides are growing ivy [which i hate] is there any way to discourage it from coming into my garden without actually killing it.
Having a problem with weeds on bark and on chippings, not so much coming through the bark/chips but seems to be growing on top of it. I have tackled it aggressivel through the old fashion way of pulling them and have some success. A weed that is getting difficult to control is "horsetail" and i sprinkled a little of Carason G on it. Not seeing much improvement, what can i do to tackle this weed or all other weeds?
My mum got all of the grass and tarmac dug up from around her house and put down stones. She used a landscape company to do this but they did not put down a weed barrier fabric and now the weeds are growing up through the stones ,could we dig up the stones and put the weed barrier fabric down ourselves?Or is weedkiller the best thing to use i.e. Roundup? I have also been advised to use a weed killer called Gromoxone and then sprinkle Casarone G on the weeds a few days later,is this good? As I don't really have much of a gardening background you're help would be very much appreciated. Many Thanks
I have a bed with some shrubs and hedging at the front of my house that I covered with weed membrane and gravel. I have to weed the area regularly at this time of year. Is there anything I can kill the weeds off with that I can spray directly onto the gravel without harming the plants?
We have approximately 250 meters of laurel hedging and would like to keep it grass and weed free underneath, its planted one year and was 4ft tall planted. Is Casoron suitable?
I've spent a lot of money on weed killers over the years but none have had the effect of killing the many different weeds in my garden - I'm thinking of digging up the garden, do i dig out the soil as in put it in a skip and put say compost on top of whats remaining and start from scratch - i havn't got a clue really. Thanks Paul
Hi Gerry. I have just built my dream home in the country on a large (3/4 acre) site. We laid the lawns last year but don't know what to do with the boundry ditches as they are covered in brambles. Any low cost suggestions?
my escallonia mccrantha took a real battering from the icy winds, its very brown around the tips. when should i cut it back or should i feed and leave it? quite a few quids worth so i need to make sure its not history!!!!
i have a weed growing in gravel. it has rhubarb like leaves and a fruit that looks something like a cactus it's i about two foot high can you tell we what it's called. thanks rory.
There is a strange grass that has invaded by garden. It has fibrous woody-like underground runners and is quite proliferous. The grass it produces is lovely but out of place among the established lavender and hydrangeas and it is impossible to pull. I have to dig down about 6 inches into the soil and under the plants to remove these runners. What is it? It is new this year - could it have come in with a hydrangea planted early autumn? Thanks very much.Desperate in Carrick!
