I have an Escallonia planted in Sept 2002 about 8' tall. The leaves are covered in black spots and a number of the branches are drooping with the leaves dead altogether. I enclose a photo. I would be very grateful for your opinion and any advice you could give me.

My escallonia hedge which i have for 20 years has lost its leaves over past three to six months, never seen this before, always a good thick hedge all year. All in my area with a similar hedge have the same problem. I believe its a leaf spot disease, if it comes back to life in spring will the same happen next autumn is it going to be a ongoing problem, we had wet summers before and i did not see this happen?
Recent phenomenon on escallonia. I sprayed mine with a triazole fungicide and it works well.Have a firend who wants to plant escallonia, but not use chemicals - is it wise to plant? Or choose an alternative?
I'm hoping to prune a privet hedge this weekend ,but up until 2 weeks ago ,a very active wasps' nest was in the ground nearby.Should I assume they are now dead or would activity near the nest disturb them again?
I've asked a question about budblight on rhododendron previously. I'm also noticing that the lower part of the same plant (stem/bark) is turning yellow and brown. I've seen some vine weevil grubs in my lawn previously, and now I'm worried if this yellowing could be from vine weevils. I'm new to planting rhododendrons, so I'm not sure what 'normal' appearance is.
Earlier in the summer I was very excited to see my rhododendron set so many flower buds, but now I'm noticing that most of them are turning brown. Is this bud blight? If so, can I stop the problem?
I have heard of a moth which affects these trees. I think my tree has been affected, as I saw caterpillar trails on the leaves. This is the second year for this to happen. What do I do? .
How should I deal with what looks like a mushroom fungus that has appeared in the last few weeks on the stump of an apple tree that was cut down about 3 years ago? The stump is flush with the grass.
I have a fantastic escallonia hedge around my garden for the last eight years. This year however it has deteriorated. You can practically see through it in patches, where it should be solid green throughout the year. Please can you give me any idea what to treat it with as it seems to be spreading. I attach a photo. I really look forward to your reply.
My 50-60 year old tree, Leyland cypress is turning very brown over the last couple of years. My lawn can get very waterlogged when it rains heavily so, it can't have dried out. Also, I have planted a few eucalyptus trees in the last couple of years nearby, and they are growing well. I have noticed a lot of ivy growing on the main trunk of the leyland cypress. How can I get this tree back to it's green glory?
A new house and new garden - but visited every night by deer. They have eaten a rose bed, which I have now taken up and was wondering if there is such a thing as a deer resistant plant?
What do you think is wrong with my holly tree the leaves are falling off and the berrys dont look too good its about 6 years old and has been growing well there are several more hollys close by and they are fine
A Hawthorn (pink flowerng) about 13 years od. It did not thrive this year, leaves thin, flowers poor and the leaves are almost gone now. I attach a photo taken in mid August. See the burnt leaves and the fungus like growth on the branch. This fungus is now yellow and crumbly and covers most of the outer twigs and branches. Any ideas on what I could do?
I have a well established Pyracantha hedge. Over the last year I have noticed that a portion of it has begun to yellow and it seems to be dying off a little. The leaves have what look like scorch marks. It is a south facing hedge so I thought it might be sun scorching but the problem only seems to be effecting one portion of the hedge. I have included a photo of the problem. It is probably worth mentioning that I took about two foot of the top of the hedge a few years back. Maybe it was damaged then. What is your opinion?
