As our lawn was full of scutch grass we sprayed the full lawn with weedfree 360 last September. Last week-end we raked off all the dead grass. Would we leave the lawn now until new growth appears and spray again? or what would you suggest.
Our new home is apparently set on a 'Bog' it has been ploughed a year or longer ago and is terrible uneven including mossy puddles. Not save for our 2 year old to play in, nor can we mow it. Its that bad. How can we get a nice lawn and vegetable garden without spending our savings?
I am looking for a grass seed or product for the grass that will somewhat avoid the damage our dog does on our small grass patch. Would you have any suggestions?
My lawn is about 3/4 acre in total. Grass growth has been weak in many parts and a lot of moss has appeared throughout large parts of the lawn, particularly since last summer. I applied sulphate of iron at about 7.5g per sqm last week and will be scarifying the worst affected mossy areas this weekend to clear out the black moss. I was then intending applying some fertilzer and overseeding areas with poor grass growth. With the size of area to cover, I have just bought some general 18-6-12 fertilizer from a farm co-op. At what rate should I be applying the fertilizer and how long afterwards should I wait to spread new grass seed ?
Is it ok to give the lawn its first light cut of the season in this sunny weather even though the night temperatures are cool with ground frost so should I hold off for a another while yet?
our lawn is badly covered in moss we are considering digging it up and resetting do you think this is really necessary or is there anything else we can try first?
Following siteworks on a new house, we laid a new lawn (1 acre) last July. Not suprisingly there are loads of weeds. Can you recommend weed and feed in granule format that will suit such a large area that is also pet friendly (I have a spreader that I can tow behind the lawnmower). Finally when is the best time to spread this?
I have an acre of lawn. It has been getting harder to cut it, each year I have to raise the mower as it is getting so thick and stalky. When I separate the grass to look at the stems, the bottom half of the grass is all yellow. There is quite alot of moss aswell. I plan on using sulphate of iron this year, would scarifying and then fertilizing help? I also use weedkiller on it every year for clover and daisys etc. It looks more like a field than a lawn at the moment. What would you advise to help get it nice looking again.
I have got rushes growing in a lawn, what are my options for getting rid of them?
I have an area about half acre I am goin to trun into a Lawn Meadow with wild flowers. I notice some recommendations , before planting with wild flower seeds , to get rid of top soil to make soil less fertile bef. I plan to get a jcb in to move topoil. My qustion is how much should I remove ? 1 inch, 6 inches a foot ?
14 large cattle broke into our lawn today. It is approx 1/4 acre. The back of the lawn was newly reseeded this Summer. The rest of the lawn to the front and sides is about 7 years old. Is there anything we can do to rectify it or is it best to leave alone. The ground is wet. I can't sue the farmer as he is my husband.
I need your opinion regarding to what options I have. My house is in a terraced housing estate and the medium-sized long rectangle back garden is divided from my neighbours' (on each side) with the common chain-link wire fencing. I have, and still am, in the process of planting several shrubs along the fence as a screen/border. The problem is, whenever the grass is high (mine, or my neighbours'), it can go to either side of the fence, making mowing a very tricky task. I have thought of getting a strimmer to tackle the problem from my side of the fence, but is there any other long-term low-maintenance way to deal with this? I don't want to change the fence to a more solid wooden kind because I quite like the 'airy' feel of the wire one. Short of getting tons of bark mulch to put along the fence, I can't think of anything else. Can you help with other suggestions?
I have a lawn of about a third of a acre and I am trying to redesgn it. can you recommend any simple design guides?
